
Liberty Extends Winning Streak to Nine With 3-1 Triumph at Longwood, Sunday

Ninth-ranked Liberty extended its winning streak to nine games with a 3-1 road triumph at Longwood, Sunday afternoon at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field.
Liberty's Bethany Dykema led the way, matching a career high with two goals in the contest. Senior Maddie Hosler scored the other goal for the Lady Flames.
The Lady Flames bolster their record to 12-2 this season following today's non-conference victory. Liberty's nine-game winning streak is the second longest in program history, trailing only the 2013 team which won 12 games in a row.
Longwood slips to 8-5 overall and sees its two-game winning streak ended.

Turning Point
After Longwood trimmed the Liberty lead to 2-1 late in the third quarter on a penalty corner goal from Ana Paula Lazaro, the Lady Flames responded with a goal midway through the fourth period. Liberty's seventh penalty corner of the afternoon produced the goal.
Hosler sent the insert to Reagan Underwood, who swung a pass over to Bethany Dykema. Dykema sent a bouncing shot past Lancers goalkeeper Madison Nuckols for a 3-1 Liberty advantage at the 51:45 mark.
Key Stats & Notes
• All four goals in today's match were scored on penalty corners. Liberty's three penalty corner goals give them 21 goals on corners this season. The Lady Flames have yielded only four goals on short corners to opponents this year.
• Dykema's first goal of the day in the eighth minute provided Liberty a lead it never relinquished. Hosler's goal in the 34th minute, assisted by Jodie Conolly, gave the visitors a 2-0 edge.
