Turning Point
JMU scored the first goal of the game with only six seconds left in the opening half to go into the locker room with a 1-0 advantage. Following a Diane Saint Martin save on a Dukes penalty corner, JMU's Brynna Hill knocked the ball to Madelief Molier on the right side. Molier batted the ball out of the air for the goal, her second of the season.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Flames earned a penalty corner within the first 25 seconds and converted to even the game at 1-1. Morena Giacosa scored from in front on a Dara Semmartin offering at the 30:30 mark for her first career collegiate goal. In the middle of the third quarter (37:08 mark), Liberty took its first lead following a pass from Josefina Tomasi onto the stick of Luna Prieri in the circle. Prieri gathered the ball and scored on a reverse into the left side for her first goal in a Liberty uniform.
Liberty added to its lead early in the fourth quarter, as Tomasi scored her second highlight reel reverse goal in as many games. Lou Combrinck found Tomasi, who turned, pivoted and fired a reverse strike into the top left corner of the goal cage for a 3-1 edge at 46:25. In the 52nd minute, Tori Griffiths added to the hosts' advantage with her first goal of 2025, a redirect from in front on a Tomasi ball into the circle.
