The Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis team will welcome the 11th-ranked mid-major 2021 recruiting class to campus this fall, according to TennisRecruiting.net (TRN).
This marks the best ranking of an incoming class in school history. The Lady Flames' recruiting class includes Maretha Burger (Ashton, South Africa), Elsa Kirch (Garner, N.C.), Maria Juliana Parra Romero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Willa Rogers (Kingsport, Tenn.).
This recruiting class was also included among the best recruiting classes in collegiate women's tennis. Liberty was among others receiving votes (two votes) in the TRN Top 25 Women's Recruiting Classes for the Class of 2021.
"This year's incoming class spent many years of hard work to get to where they are, and we are excited to welcome them into the family," stated Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren. "I have no doubt that they will continue to maximize their talents in order to help our program reach new heights!"
Rice boasts the top mid-major recruiting class, followed by Florida International (No. 2), Pepperdine (No. 3), UC Santa Barbara (No. 4) and Florida Atlantic (No. 5). Liberty ranks just behind Furman (No. 10) and just ahead of Army (No. 12) and Boston U (No. 13). TennisRecruiting.net lists the top-25 mid-major classes.
Liberty finished with an 18-7 record and a 6-0 ASUN mark during the spring 2021 campaign, tied for the second most total wins in a season in program history. The Liberty women's tennis program also moved into its new indoor facility, the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center, in mid-February.
