
Liberty Men's Soccer to Face High Point, Wednesday

The Liberty Flames will return to action, Wednesday. The Flames (4-5, 0-1) will travel to High Point, N.C., for a match against the High Point Panthers (4-4-3, 1-0-1). Match time at Vert Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.

A Look at Liberty
Liberty (4-5, 0-1) will return to the field for the first time in 10 days, Wednesday. Due to inclement weather, the Flames had their match against Radford postponed, this past Saturday.
The two will now meet on Oct. 20. Wednesday's match will be the first Big South Conference contest for Liberty on the road this season.
Winthrop edged Liberty, 2-1 in double overtime on Sept. 26 at home in the first Big South Conference match of 2015. Midfielder Kyle Carr scored his first goal in a Flames' uniform in the contest. Goalkeeper Jeremy Lee made a career-high 10 saves in the match.
With Carr's goal, eight Flames have scored at least one goal this season. Forward Sachem Wilson leads the Flames with three goals. Freshman Nico Bellarde and senior Tim Harbison have scored two goals each for Liberty.
Geovanny Murillo and fellow midfielder Kurt Meyers lead the Flames with three assists apiece. They are currently tied with three other players for second-most in the Big South.
Jeremy Lee has played every minute in goal for Liberty, so far in 2015. Lee has posted a 1.39 goals-against average over 841 minutes and recorded two shutouts.
The Flames are in their 15th season under the guidance of Head Coach Jeff Alder. Liberty is 142-106-23 under the Liberty alum.
A Look at High Point
High Point (4-4-3, 1-0-1) is unbeaten in its last four contests, posting a 3-0-1 mark. The Panthers set a school record for goals in a match with a 10-0 win over Laurel, Sunday.
High Point is 3-1-1 at home this season and has started Big South Conference play with a 1-0-1 mark. The Panthers defeated UNC Asheville and have tied Presbyterian.
11 different Panthers have scored a goal in 2015. Forward Ryan Avery leads High Point with four goals. Three Panthers have two assists each.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kody Palmer has posted a 0.55 goals-against average and recorded six shutouts. He played every minute in goal for the Panthers this season.
Last season, High Point posted a 10-8-2 overall record and finished tied for third in the Big South Conference with a 6-2-1 mark.
Head Coach E.J. O'Keeffe is in his first year at High Point.
High Point and Liberty will be meeting for the 30th time, Wednesday. The Flames hold a 14-11-4 record all-time against the Panthers.
Liberty defeated High Point, 1-0 in double overtime, to close out the regular season, last year.
In their last visit to High Point, the Flames, the No. 7 seed, advanced in the Big South tournament with a 1-0 win over the Panthers, the No. 2 seed, on Nov. 12, 2013.

- Senior team captain Tim Harbison has started 65 consecutive matches for the Flames. The midfielder/defender has been part of Liberty's starting 11 since joining the Flames in 2012.

A Look Ahead
Liberty returns home for a match against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon. Kickoff for the Big South Conference contest at Osborne Stadium is scheduled for noon. It will be the first game of a doubleheader with the Lady Flames' soccer team, who will play High Point at 4 p.m.
