Graduation Reflections with Payton Scarbrough

Liberty honored its graduating student-athletes at last week's Athletics Cord Ceremony. Following the event, LFSN reporter Alan York had a chance to visit with Payton Scarbrough, one of the evening's honorees.
Scarbrough is completing his second year with the Flames' baseball program after transferring to Liberty from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla. He will graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
Scarbrough has started 68 of the 72 games he has played in the last two seasons, spending time behind the plate at catcher as well as at designated hitter.
The native of Maryville, Mo., was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, last year, and finished the season hitting .284 from the plate with 22 RBI and 25 runs scored. During his senior season, Scarbrough is one of eight players on Liberty's roster with a slugging percentage above .400 (.412), while adding three home runs, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored.
