
Liberty Volleyball to Host LA Tech to Open CUSA Schedule

Liberty (12-1), on an eight-match winning streak and off to its best start in program history, hosts Louisiana Tech to open CUSA play, Friday and Saturday at Liberty Arena.

- Liberty has won all four meetings against Louisiana Tech since joining Conference USA in 2023. The Lady Flames were picked sixth and Bulldogs 12th in the 2025 CUSA Preseason Coaches Poll.
- The Lady Flames have won three in-season tournaments this year, going 3-0 at the Cougar Challenge.
- Liberty has posted its first win over both a Big Ten (Rutgers) and Big 12 (Houston) program this season.

- Liberty's current eight-match winning streak is its longest since winning the first eight matches of the 2023 season. The last time Liberty had a 10-match winning streak or longer was Oct. 14, 2022 through Nov. 18, 2022, when the Lady Flames won 10 matches in a row.
- With Carly O'Brien (31 vs. Houston) and Paige Overcash (30 vs. ECU), Liberty is the only NCAA Division I volleyball team with two players to have a 30-kill match so far this season.
- On Aug. 30, Liberty overcame a 2-0 deficit for the first time since 2016, beating Rutgers. Liberty's six five-set wins are its most since posting six five-set victories during the full 2012 season.
- Liberty has already hit .300 or better more times this year (five) than in the 2024 season (twice).
- The Lady Flames need two more wins to surpass their win total from the 2024 campaign (13-18).
- Jeremy White begins his first season at Liberty. He served as head coach at Southeastern Louisiana for the last six years, posting a 113-58 record and leading the Lions to two NCAA Tournaments. Last year, Southeastern posted a nation-leading 24-match winning streak.
- Former Tulsa head coach Ryan Wills (2014-22) serves as an assistant coach on White's staff. Mackenzie Martin is in her first year as an assistant coach after finishing her collegiate playing career at The Citadel last season.
- Liberty welcomes 11 newcomers this season, including four transfers. Graduate students Zoe Hall (TCU) and Shyia Richardson (Louisiana) join the Lady Flames, along with junior Molly Littlefield (Gardner-Webb) and sophomore Layla Collins (Virginia Tech).
- Freshman Kayla O'Brien joins her older sister, sophomore Carly O'Brien, on the Lady Flames' roster. They are the first pair of sisters to play for Liberty Volleyball in the same season since Abby and Kate Phillips in 2021.
