
Liberty to Face Radford in 1st Road Contest of 2025

LYNCHBURG, Va. – After securing two home victories to begin the 2025 season, the Liberty Flames men's soccer team heads to Radford, Va., for its first road match of the season. The Flames will square off with the Radford Highlanders Thursday evening at Tom Lillard Field at Cupp Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Liberty and Radford will be meeting for the 55th time on Thursday. The Flames have played the Highlanders the most of any team in program history, as the two teams were both long-standing members of the Big South Conference.

- Liberty begins its eighth season under head coach Kelly Findley with a 9-0 win over Regent on Thursday and a 3-1 victory over USC Upstate on Sunday at Osborne Stadium.
- Defender Lucas Kelly scored three goals in the two games, the Flames' first goal of the season in the win over Regent and two goals in the victory over USC Upstate. With two goals against USC Upstate, Kelly recorded his first multi-goal game of his career. The defender entered the season having scored one career goal in his previous two seasons.
- Kelly and fellow defender Carlos Trott were each honored by the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) with weekly awards for their performances this past weekend. Kelly was selected as the OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Trott was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
- Trott played 163 minutes anchoring a Flames defensive unit that allowed one goal in two games this past weekend. The senior center back did not allow a shot from the middle of the field during his time on the pitch.
- Forward Sam Farner and midfielder Aidan Morrison each recorded their first multi-goal game of their careers in the win over Regent. Farner, a senior, also had two assists in the contest for six points in the game.
- Liberty has had eight different players score a goal already this season.
- The Flames' nine goals in their win over Regent are the most by a Liberty team in a game since scoring 10 in a 10-1 win over Concord at the then Liberty Soccer Field on Sept. 1, 2009. Liberty scored seven goals in a 7-1 victory over Western Illinois last season.
- Tyler Beck played every minute in goal for the Flames during the first two games of the season. The sophomore goalkeeper allowed one goal and made five saves.
- This season, Findley has two new assistant coaches. Glodi Konga and Cyrus Salehi have joined the Liberty staff. Konga, a former Flame, has played professionally and has collegiate head coaching experience, while Salehi has over 20 years of head coaching experience, primarily at the high school and club levels.
- The Flames were picked to finish fourth in the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Preseason Poll. Morrison was named an OVC Player to Watch.
- The Flames have a lot of new faces in 2025, as only 12 of the 22 players on their roster are returners. Of the 10 Flames' newcomers, eight are transfers and two are true freshmen.
