LYNCHBURG, VA. - Liberty Flames outfielder Camden Troyer and pitcher Dylan Mathiesen were chosen during Day 2 of the 2025 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft this afternoon.
Troyer was selected in the 12th round (374th overall) by the New York Yankees, while Mathiesen was taken in the 13th round (383rd overall pick) by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
With their selections, Liberty has now had 79 players taken in the MLB Draft during the 52-year history of its program. The Flames have had at least one player chosen in each draft since 2000, except for the 2020 draft, which was limited to five rounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Troyer finished his Liberty career with his best season in 2025. The senior outfielder hit a team-leading .300 with 10 home runs, 44 RBI and a team-high 54 runs scored in 56 games, all starts. Also, posted a team-leading .406 on-base and .524 slugging percentages. He walked 30 times and struck out 21.
The outfielder was the toughest batter to strike out in Conference USA this season, striking out once every 10 at bats. Troyer also appeared among the CUSA leaders in runs scored (8th) and triples (8th).
Troyer played in 166 career games in three seasons at Liberty. The Greenville, S.C., native hit .265 with 127 RBI and 135 runs scored. He had 40 doubles and belted 21 home runs. In 2024, he was named to the CUSA All-Tournament team.

The Coraopolis, P, native struck out 84, walked 31 and held opponents to a .245 batting average.
The right-hander was among the CUSA leaders throughout the 2025 season. Mathiesen led the conference in games started and was fourth in strikeouts. He was also among the CUSA leaders in opposing batting average (9th) and innings pitched (10th).
Mathiesen transferred to Liberty from California (Pa.) for the 2024 season. The right-hander went 2-3 with a 6.38 ERA over 24 innings in 14 appearances. He struck out 29 and walked 18.
