
Pair of Sophomores Have Strong Showing on Day One of Atlantic Regional

Sophomores Rebekah Anderson and Aleksandra Panchenko had strong starts on day one at the 2016 ITA Atlantic Regional Women's Tennis Championships on Friday.
Anderson won her first singles match of the day and also teamed up with Panchenko for a doubles win at Old Dominion's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Anderson defeated ODU's Natalya Malenko in three sets, 6-5, 4-6, 6-0. The sophomore fell to James Madison's Jona Roka in a hard-fought three-set match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Anderson and Panchenko bested West Virginia's Lyn Yuen Choo and Kaja Mrgole, 8-1, in their first doubles match of the tournament. The duo will square off against Virginia's Rosie Johanson and Meghan Kelly, tomorrow, at 10:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, Liberty junior Evangeline Crist and Anna Dollar open doubles play versus James Madison's Emma Petersen and Jona Roka on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Crist begins singles play against Longwood's Jamie Breunig at 1 p.m., tomorrow, while Dollar takes on West Virginia's Habiba Shaker at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday: Round of 64 singles (1 p.m. start), round of 32 doubles (9 a.m. start) and round of 16 doubles
Sunday: Round of 32 singles, round of 16 singles, quarterfinals for doubles and opportunity for extra matches
Monday: Quarterfinals of singles, semifinals of doubles and finals of doubles
Tuesday: Semifinals of singles and finals of singles
