Liberty’s Top Storylines
• No. 2 seed Liberty (24-7, 16-2 ASUN) will make its fourth ASUN Women's Basketball Championship title game appearance in five years, Saturday evening at No. 1 seed FGCU (31-3, 17-1).
• The Lady Flames have won 16 straight games, including an 88-78 (OT) victory over FGCU on Jan. 21 which marked Liberty's first-ever win over the Eagles.
• Liberty will look to qualify for its 18th NCAA Tournament but its first since 2018. In order to do so, the Lady Flames will need to post their first-ever win at Alico Arena, become the first ASUN team ever to defeat FGCU twice in a season and snap a 37-game losing streak against Top 25 opponents.
• Mya Berkman was named first team All-ASUN and selected to the ASUN All-Academic Team for the second year in a row. She leads the nation in field goal percentage (70.0) and is the only current Lady Flame to appear in both the 2019 and 2021 ASUN finals vs. FGCU. Berkman totaled two points and eight boards in 23 minutes during those two contests.
• Carey Green, who is 14-4 in conference tournament title games at Liberty, is tied with former softball coach Paul Wetmore as the all-time winningest head coach in Liberty Athletics history with 547 victories.
Notes and Anecdotes – Liberty vs. FGCU
• Liberty will close out its fifth and final season of ASUN Conference membership the same way it wrapped up its inaugural ASUN campaign in 2018-19, with a visit to FGCU for the championship game.
• The Lady Flames fell to FGCU in the 2019 and 2021 ASUN finals, with the teams' scheduled matchup in the 2020 title contest being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Liberty is looking to qualify for its 18th NCAA Tournament but its first since the Lady Flames topped UNC Asheville in the Big South title game five years ago today (March 11, 2018). No current Lady Flames were part of that team.
• Liberty is 7-13 when facing ASUN opponents in Florida and 65-9 when matching up with ASUN foes in any other state.
• The Lady Flames are 0-7 all-time at Alico Arena, making it one of two ASUN venues (also Jacksonville State's Pete Mathews Coliseum) where Liberty has never won a game.
• Liberty will try to become the first ASUN team ever to defeat FGCU twice in the same season.
• FGCU is currently ranked No. 23 nationally in the coaches poll. Liberty has lost 37 straight meetings with Top 25 opponents since an 88-79 victory over No. 16/16 DePaul on March 22, 2005, which sent the Lady Flames to the Sweet 16.
Summarizing the Streak
• Liberty's current 16-game winning streak, which began on Jan. 14 at Jacksonville, is its longest since an 18-game streak spanning Dec. 29, 2008-March 6, 2009.
• All four previous times the Lady Flames posted a 16-game winning streak or longer, they advanced to the NCAA Tournament (1997-98, 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2008-09).
• Through March 8, Liberty's 16-game winning streak is tied with Vermont the fifth-longest active streak in NCAA Division I women's basketball, trailing only South Carolina (38), UNLV (22), Gardner-Webb (21) and South Dakota State (21).
Tournament Tidbits
• Liberty has advanced to the championship game of its conference tournament for the fourth time in five years as an ASUN member and the 23rd time in the last 27 seasons.
• Liberty is 17-4 all-time in conference tournament finals, including 0-2 in the ASUN. The Lady Flames are 2-2 in the final when playing as the worse seed, including 0-2 in the ASUN.

• Liberty is 1-2 in title games played on its opponent's home court, including 0-1 in the ASUN. The Lady Flames won the 2012 Big South title at High Point.
• Liberty will try to become the first No. 2 seed to win the ASUN title since FGCU in 2017. The Lady Flames won a pair of Big South titles as the No. 2 seed (1997 and 2010).
