Today, LibertyFlames.com continues its weekly question-and-answer series with the Lady Flames volleyball team, designed to give fans a unique look at the two-time defending Big South champions. Sophomore Rebecca Warren is this week's featured Lady Flame.
Sophomore Rebecca Warren's greatest contributions to the Lady Flames have come from her lethal jump serve. She ranks second on this year's team, averaging 0.26 aces per set. For her career, Warren has served up 11 aces in 19 appearances.
Warren, a special education major, was included on the Big South Presidential Honor Roll as a freshman. She hails from Virginia Beach, Va., making her one of three Commonwealth natives on this year's roster (along with Lauren Bosché and Courtney Cooper.)
What is the most exciting thing you did this summer?
I went to Disney World.
If you could add a match to this year's schedule, which team would you want to play?
Penn State
What is your favorite volleyball memory?
At camp, I got locked in the closet and everyone thought it was funny. No one came to get me out except for Haley, Coach Pinder's wife.
How many text messages do you send per month?
I hate talking on the phone, so texting is all I do.
Who is your best friend currently playing collegiate volleyball for another team, and who do they play for?
Hope Leatigaga, a setter at Campbell. We have been through everything together.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
Since I live at the beach, I'm always down for a trip to the mountains if it's snowing.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Philippians 1:6
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"
I kept this verse on my mirror during my whole freshman year. It's what got me through the year in all aspects of my life.
What is your favorite food?
Chicken Parmesan
My dream beach volleyball partner would be …
Misty May
Do you have any pre-match habits/rituals, and what are they?
Music is always a must before a match. Also, I always wear a head band, which is usually a bright color that in no way matches our uniforms.
The most impressive thing about Coach Pinder is …
His ability to challenge you in every aspect of your life.
What is the best advice you have ever received, and who gave it to you?
For as long as I can remember, my mom has constantly said, "Guard your heart".
