Just one day after the most historic win in athletics department history, the Flames were back to work on Saturday, as Liberty participated in the Round of 32 Press Day at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
Last night, No. 12 seed Liberty rallied from a 10-point deficit to record an 80-76 win over No. 5 seed Mississippi State, the program's first-ever win in four appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Today, the Flames returned the SAP Center for more media interviews and a full practice session. Liberty practiced from 1:30 to 3 p.m. (PST) and then fielded questions from the media. The Flames Myo Baxter-Bell, Elijah Cuffee and Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz represented the Flames in the press conference room, along with head coach Ritchie McKay, while the rest of the team met with media inside the team locker room.
The Flames will return to the SAP Center on Sunday afternoon when they will face No. 4 seed Virginia Tech for the right to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. Tomorrow afternoon's contest between Commonwealth foes will tip off at 7:10 p.m. (EST) and can be seen on TBS.
