11/5/2008 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
The Liberty men's basketball program is hosting "Madness on the Mountain" in the Schilling Center, Monday night. The event will take the place of the traditional Blue/White game and will feature various games, a dunk contest and a 12-minute live scrimmage.
Doors open to the Schilling Center at 6:45 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. Fans will see head coach Ritchie McKay introduce the assistant coaches and the team before giving way to a variety of games and t-shirt giveaways.
There will be two dating contests presented by Crown Sterling. The first dating contest will consist of a girl interviewing three possible suitors. The suitors are freshmen Seth Curry, Carter McMasters and Bill Weaver. The second dating contest will feature freshman Jesse Sanders interviewing three female suitors. The winners of each contest will enjoy a date at Crown Sterling.
There will also be a couple two-ball shootout competitions, which will involve a player, fans, Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. and Athletics Director Jeff Barber. The fan who tallies the most points will be awarded two tickets to Liberty's Nov. 25 contest at Virginia. Other prizes include an iTunes gift card for the winner of the Dizzy Trike race.
The event will conclude with a 12-minute scrimmage, giving fans the first glimpse of the 2008-09 men's hoops squad. Come out to "Madness on the Mountain" to cheer on the Flames as they gear up for their Nov. 14 season opener, when the Montreat Cavaliers invade the Vines Center for a 9:15 p.m. tipoff.
