
Liberty to Square off with Lipscomb in ASUN Quarterfinal

The Liberty Flames head to Nashville, Tenn., for an ASUN Quarterfinal match against the Lipscomb Bisons, Saturday at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. It will be the third meeting between the two teams this season.

Liberty Notables
• Liberty (6-2-2, 1-2-1 ASUN) will face Lipscomb (5-4-2, 1-2-1 ASUN) in an ASUN Quarterfinal on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn. The winner advances to play the highest remaining seed from the Southern Division next Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla.
• Liberty's 6-2-1 record is its best record since posting a 10-6-1 mark in 2017. The Flames have been ranked as high as 15th nationally this season in the United Soccer Coaches poll (March 15). Liberty enters the weekend eighth in the NCAA RPI.
• The last time out, Liberty recorded its eighth shutout of the year, tying Lipscomb 0-0 in Nashville on March 27. Goalkeeper Danny Cordero made three saves in the contest. It is only the second time this season the Flames were held without a goal in a match.
• All four of Liberty's ASUN Conference regular season games went to overtime. The Flames went 1-2-1 in conference to tie Lipscomb for second place in the Northern Division. Based on head-to-head results, the Bisons earned the right to host Saturday's quarterfinal. Lipscomb won in overtime at Liberty 3-2 (March 13) and the two teams tied at Lipscomb 0-0 after double overtime (March 27) during the regular season.
• Liberty has outscored its opponents, 15-5 and lead the ASUN in goal differential. The Flames have allowed 0.47 goals per game and have allowed one or fewer goals in eight of their 10 contests this season.
• Liberty's eight shutouts are the most by a Flames team in a season since the 2011 squad posted nine.
• Cordero leads the nation in shutouts with eight and is tied for third on the program's season list. He has posted a 0.47 goals against average and leads the ASUN in saves (41), save percentage (.891) and shutouts (8). He has twice been named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.
• Forward Musa Morris enters Saturday's match leading the ASUN Conference and the Flames in goals (5) and points (12). Michael Huss is second with four goals and eight points. Midfielder Seth Clark is third with three goals and seven points.
• Midfielder Marko Mitrevski leads the Flames and is tied for the ASUN Conference lead with four assists. Fellow midfielder Luke Eberle is next with three.
• All of Liberty's setbacks have come in overtime. The Flames have had five games go to overtime, posting a 1-2-2 mark. Both of their contests with Lipscomb went to overtime this season.
