Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Team Rankings
The Liberty men's tennis team has garnered its first national ranking in program history. The Flames (11-5, 2-0 ASUN) are currently listed as the No. 43-ranked team in the country in today's Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Team Rankings, featuring the top-50 teams in the nation.
Liberty has won 11 of its first 16 matches for only the third time in school history. The Flames (2-0 ASUN) stand atop the ASUN North division currently, a game ahead of Lipscomb (1-1) and North Alabama (1-1). Liberty earned a pair of road victories at North Alabama (7-0 final) and Lipscomb (5-2 final), last weekend.
Liberty has been well-represented in the ASUN weekly awards, with eight honorees in 10 weeks.
The Flames have faced a challenging schedule in 2021 that included matches against No. 22 Virginia, No. 6 Texas and No. 34 South Florida. Additionally, Liberty competed against Arizona, who is currently ranked 19th in the nation.
No. 43 Liberty will set its sights on a matchup against another ranked foe, No. 49 UNCW (7-2), on Friday afternoon. First serve is slated for noon at the Liberty Tennis Complex.
We are nationally ranked as a team for the first time in program history! We are currently listed as the No. 4?3? team in the country in today's Oracle/@ITA_Tennis Division I Men's Team Rankings.??????
