DAY 6
Today was a sad day, as we said goodbye to Jerusalem and, of course, our big purple submarine. The big purple submarine was our bus, which was driven by the amazing Joseph, who was by far the best driver in Israel and also one of the nicest-looking 50-year-olds I've ever seen. (I think he had a crush on Dymond Morgan, but I won't go there.) The other amazing man we met on this trip was our guide J.R., who crammed two weeks worth of touring into four days … pretty impressive. These two men helped us see, according to J.R., the most beautiful city in the world, Jerusalem.
This experience has definitely been one I will never forget. Not because of the billions of pictures everyone has taken, all of our laughing, suffering through the music on the bus or even the amazing food we've eaten every day, but the fact that I was able to walk and talk where Jesus walked and talked. There were numerous occasions where His presence was overwhelmingly beautiful and real, which made everything, even the music on the bus, more beautiful. J.R. could not have explained Jerusalem any better than beautiful. I can't imagine any better way to start off my summer than spending it in the Holy Land, where my Lord Jesus lived.
Now we are in Eilat, getting ready to play our first game of the Friendship Games, tomorrow against Germany. We had our first practice today, for about an hour in a gym that probably hasn't seen a mop or broom in about 10 years. However, the good news is that Danika Dale and Carra Coy might be able to dunk on the goals, because they're so low. Just kidding! The goals are 10 feet tall and the floor will be fine to play on, but please keep the team in your prayers. Please pray not only for safety, but also that we will be lights to outsiders of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and that those watching our team play will see Him in each of us, on and off the court.
I am extremely excited to be playing for the first time with this phenomenal team! Each player means so much to me and I cannot wait to play along with them this upcoming season. The Lord is so good and has showered His love upon this team.
No excuses, Lady Flames, let's rise above and bring God all the glory!
