
Lady Flames Bounce Back With 11-1 Victory at Campbell

Liberty bounced back from a 5-4, game-one setback, trouncing Campbell, 11-1, during game two of a doubleheader, Saturday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
The Lady Flames improve to 20-16, including 6-2 in Big South play. Campbell's record stands at 20-19 with a 5-3 conference mark.
Amber Bishop went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored, while Jaclyn Amader batted 2-for-4 with a double and a career-high four RBI. Emily Sweat hit 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Tori Zavodny went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Campbell's Caroline Smith went 3-for-3 with one run scored.
Kenzie Friesen (6-1) allowed one run on eight hits, striking out three. She got 16 groundouts, tying a career high.
Megan Richards (2-2) drew the loss, yielding five runs (four earned) on six hits, walking four and striking out two. Amber Schisler gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.
For the second game in a row, Liberty scored once in the top of the first. Bishop singled to right, and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Alexia Taylor drew a walk, before Emily Sweat reached on a fielder's choice. Zavodny then bounced an infield single up the middle, with Taylor scoring on the play.
Campbell tied it at one with a second-inning tally. Smith led off with a single before a sac bunt sent her to second, and she made it to third on a wild pitch. Megan Mozingo grounded out to short, plating Smith with the tying run.
The Camels threatened to go ahead in the bottom of the third, as Christa Hall lined a leadoff single to right. She made it to third with two outs, before Friesen fanned Schisler to end the inning.
Liberty took control of the game in the fifth, batting around while scoring four runs. Jasmeen Click drew a leadoff walk before stealing second. Bishop then hit a go-ahead single, going to second on the throw. Sarah Robertson beat out a bunt, and Bishop ran home from second, for 3-1 lead. With two outs and two on, Amader lined a two-run double to right field. Schisler entered the circle to get the final out.
The hosts rallied with two outs in the fifth, getting consecutive singles from Madison Herring and Taesha DuBoise. Then, Friesen came through by striking out Schisler.
The Lady Flames put the game out of reach with a six-run seventh, receiving two-run singles from Amader, Deidra See and Amber Bishop to boost Liberty's lead to 11-1.
Friesen allowed a leadoff hit in the bottom of the seventh, before closing out the game with a strikeout and two groundouts.
The Lady Flames and Camels will wrap up their three-game series tomorrow, with a single game at 1:30 p.m. at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
