During this week's edition of the Gridiron Glance, LibertyFlames.com correspondent Nick Pierce had a chance to talk with B.J. Hayes and Pat Kelly, two of Liberty's three wide receiver standouts against St. Francis.
The pair, along with Chris Summers (129 yards and two TDs), became the second trio of football players in program history to record 100-yard receiving games during the same contest.
Hayes tied Summers for a team-high honors with seven receptions, while picking up 110 receiving yards. Kelly caught four passes for 115 yards. Both players scored during the game, as Hayes caught a 49-yard scoring strike and Kelly recorded the fourth-longest scoring play under head coach Danny Rocco on a 75-yard pass play.
Their career days allowed Hayes and Kelly to become the 46th and 47th players in program history to record a 100-yard receiving game.
The first time Liberty had three wide receivers finish a game with 100 more receiving yards was against Toledo on Sept. 17, 1994 – Tony Dews (106 yards), Robert Butz (104 yards) and Dion Cook (100).
