First and 10 – Saturday's Top Storylines
1. Coming off of its bye week, Liberty will play host to Presbyterian on Military Appreciation Day at Williams Stadium.
2. Liberty has recorded six consecutive victories over the Blue Hose, who have never won at Williams Stadium. PC is also seeking its first Big South win of 2015. See page 3 of the game notes for more information on Saturday's matchup.
3. The Flames are 11-1 in November games under Turner Gill. See page 3 of the game notes for more on Liberty's success in November.
4. Liberty is seeking its first back-to-back victories of the 2015 season. See page 4 of the game notes for more on what a Flames triumph would mean.
5. One game after setting the Liberty career passing record, Josh Woodrum needs 155 yards to overtake Charleston Southern's Collin Drafts as the all-time leading passer in Big South history. See page 4 of the game notes for more milestones within reach on Saturday.
6. Darrin Peterson's next receiving touchdown will be No. 27 of his career, giving him sole possession of Liberty's career record. He is also 3 catches shy of 200 and 64 receiving yards shy of 3,000.
7. Chima Uzowihe has recorded 8.0 sacks this season, leaving him 2 sacks shy of breaking the Big South single-season record. See page 9 of the game notes for more information on Uzowihe.
8. LB Jimmy O'Grady is coming off of a career-high 15-tackle performance against Kennesaw State. See page 10 of the game notes for more on the Flames' senior captain.
9. Liberty is 3-0 when outrushing its opponent in 2015. On Saturday, the Flames will try to limit PC's Darrell Bridges, who ranks No. 13 nationally with 855 rushing yards this season.
10. The Liberty-Presbyterian head-to-head series dates back to 1982. See page 22 of the game notes for scores of all 12 previous gridiron clashes between the Flames and Blue Hose.
"4 Downs" with the Blue Hose
1 - Presbyterian is seeking its first road win of the 2015 season, as the Blue Hose are 0-4 away from Clinton this year. PC is also in search of its first-ever win at Williams Stadium, where the Blue Hose are 0-4 all-time. Liberty has won six straight meetings with PC overall, marking the Flames' longest active winning streak against a Big South opponent and improving the Flames' all-time record against the Blue Hose to 8-4.
2 - Presbyterian is aiming for just its second victory over Liberty in the last 30 seasons. The Blue Hose upset Liberty 31-28 on Nov. 1, 2008 in Clinton, S.C. PC has posted two winning seasons at the FCS level, going 6-5 in both 2007 and 2014.
3 - PC's defensive unit is headlined by senior linebacker Donelle Williams, who ranks third in Big South history with 372 career tackles. Williams has tallied 28 career stops against the Flames, including 18 in 2011. The Blue Hose are the lone remaining winless team in Big South play at 0-3. However, PC has lost its three conference games by a total of 14 points and is allowing just 16.0 ppg in league play.
4 - No Presbyterian running back had ever recorded more than four 100-yard rushing games in a season prior to this year. Sophomore Darrell Bridges has notched a program-record five 100-yard games in 2015 and needs just 56 yards to break the PC single-season record of 910.
Milestone Watch
1/3/64 - Darrin Peterson's next touchdown reception will be the 27th of his career, giving him sole possession of Liberty's career record. He is also just 3 catches shy of 200 for his career and 64 receiving yards shy of 3,000. Peterson would become the first receiver in Liberty and Big South Conference history to reach either of those milestones.
2a - John Lunsford needs 2 extra points to break the Liberty career record of 142 extra points made, held by Phillip Harrelson (1995-98).
2b - Chima Uzowihe needs 2 sacks to break the Big South single-season record of 9.5 sacks, set by former teammate Toby Onyechi in 2014.
4 - Chris Turner has tallied three interceptions during his freshman season. His next pick will make him the first Liberty freshman with four interceptions in a season since Randall State had four as a freshman in 1998.
155/386 - Josh Woodrum is 155 passing yards away from breaking the Big South career passing record of 9,768 yards, held by Charleston Southern's Collin Drafts. A huge 386-yard day would enable Woodrum to reach the 10,000-passing yard milestone.
A Liberty Win Would ...
• Improve the Flames' record at Williams Stadium to 4-0 this season and 18-5 under Turner Gill.
• Boost the Flames' record in November contests to 12-1 under Turner Gill.
• Push the Flames' all-time record in Big South Conference games to 48-18.
• Mark the Flames' seventh straight win over Presbyterian overall and their fifth straight victory over the Blue Hose at Williams Stadium, boosting their all-time record against PC to 9-4.
• Give the Flames back-to-back wins for the first time in 2015.
• Enable the Flames to avoid suffering their first season with three or more conference losses since 2005.
• Boost the Flames' all-time record at Williams Stadium to 104-45.
