Battling tough playing conditions and multiple weather delays, the Flames find themselves tied for fifth place after the first day of competition at the Rod Myers Invitational.
The 12-team event, hosted by Duke at the Duke University Golf Course, has been reduced to a 36-hole event following today's weather delays.
The teams were able to complete 18 holes of play, before the second round was halted at 3:24 p.m. Play attempted to resume at 4:30 p.m., but was stopped again, this time for the day, at 4:41 p.m.
The teams will return to the par-72, 7,136-yard track tomorrow morning to complete what is left of their second round of play.
The Flames, who are in the midst of holes No. 3 through 5 of their second round, officially completed their first round tied for fifth place with a 1-under 287. Liberty's best team round of the 2014-15 season had the team tied with Charlotte for fifth place.
North Carolina led after the first 18 holes of play after the Tar Heels carded a 10-under par 278, followed by East Carolina's 7-under par 281. Baylor was also one of the five teams to post a score in red figures with a 2-under par 286.
A total of 18 players in the 72-man field posted under-par scores during Saturday morning's flight.
North Carolina's Ben Griffin led the charge with a 5-under par 67, followed by his teammate William Register, Notre Dame's Matt Rushton, East Carolina's George Kilgore and Liberty's Hutson Chandler who shared second place with a 4-under par 68.
For Chandler, it marked his first collegiate under-par round of golf, which included four birdies and 14 pars.
Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse continued his under-par scoring, posting a 2-under par 70 to share 10th place with three other golfers.
Adam Eineving was tied for 28th place after a 1-over par 73. He was followed by Isaiah Logue, who was tied for 50th place with a 4-over par 76 and Mitchell Klooz, who was tied for 71st place with a 14-over par 86.
The Flames will return to the golf course at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning to resume their second and final round of golf of the fall season. Liberty will once again be paired with golfers from Tulsa and Iowa on Sunday.
