Race Reactions
- Doan has now finished inside the top 10 at nine of her last 10 cross country meets, including all four starts this fall. Her 20:32.9 effort on Saturday was significantly faster than Doan’s 21:25.3 effort at the Spring 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, which were contested on the same course.
- The Lady Flames placed 26th as a team at the Spring 201 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater. Doan, Marie Hostetler and Priscillah Kiplagat were the three Liberty runners who competed that day who were back in action on Saturday.
- Werner (20:58.4) became the sixth Lady Flame ever to run a sub-21:00 6K. She joins Ednah Kurgat (2015) and Adelyn Ackley-Fairley (2019) as the only Liberty women’s runners to do so as freshmen. Werner was the second-fastest freshman in Saturday’s race.
- Kristiana Young stepped up as the Lady Flames’ No. 5 runner on the day, posting a personal-best 22:14.2 for 85th place.
- Kiprotich has now served as Liberty’s No. 1 men’s runner during each of his first three races as a Flame (Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational and Weis-Crockett Invitational).
- Harkabus moved up nine spots during the final kilometer as he closed out the fastest 8K (24:22.9) of his career.
- Two-time ASUN Men’s Freshman of the Week Jacob Hess came in 82nd overall, including 12th among freshmen.
