Following a career outing at last week's SunTrust Gator Invitational, Liberty's Mickey DeMorat has been named this week's Big South Men's Golfer of the Week.
DeMorat posted an 8-under par 202 (70-66-66) and finished the Florida-hosted event tied for third place. The third-place showing was his second top five finish of the year.
The Merritt Island, Fla., native closed the event with consecutive 4-under par rounds of 66. His tournament total tied the program's best individual 54-hole school record.
DeMorat has posted sub-70 scores in three of his last four rounds of golf, allowing the sophomore to move into second place on Liberty's roster with a 72.50 stroke average.
DeMorat and the Flames return to the golf course this weekend when they participate in The Hayt, a three-day event hosted by North Florida at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The 54-hole event gets underway on Friday.
