
College of Charleston Tops Liberty, 3-1

Liberty took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth, before College of Charleston rallied for three runs to defeat the Lady Flames, 3-1, Saturday at Auburn's Jane B. Moore Field.
With the win, College of Charleston improves to 8-6, including 1-1 at the Wilson/DeMarini Classic. The Lady Flames (9-9) have lost four straight games to open the weekend.
Sam Martin (2-1) earned the win, allowing one run on two hits, walking two and striking out five in 4 2/3 innings pitched. Brittany Violette picked up the save with 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief.
Kenzie Friesen (3-1) drew the loss for Liberty, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, walking two in 3 1/3 innings of work. Julia DiMartino pitched the final 2 2/3 innings of the game, allowing one unearned run on one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
College of Charleston's Taylor DuPree and Katie Padilla both went 2-for-3, while Lexee Emanuel batted 1-for-2 with a homer.
Amber Bishop hit 1-for-3 with a solo homer, while Emily Sweat went 1-for-3 with a double and Taylor Hoffman batted 1-for-2 and stole a base.
Sarah Robertson drew a walk with one out in the first frame. After two outs, Robertson stole second. Sweat then struck out for the third out.
DuPree led off the bottom of the first with a bunt single before stealing second. After a sacrifice bunt moved DuPree to third. Friesen kept the game scoreless with a pair of groundouts.
Dexlie Inman received a free pass to start off the home half of the third. A one-out walk put runners on first and second. With two outs, Taylor Belfiore reached on an error, but Inman was thrown out at home trying to score from second on the play.
Amber Bishop gave Liberty a 1-0 lead with a one-out homer in the top of the fourth, breaking up the no-hitter and shutout with one swing of the bat.
The Cougars quickly answered, as Emanuel hit a leadoff solo shot to center field, tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. DiMartino came on in relief of Friesen with one out and one on. An error led to two unearned runs, as an Inman sacrifice fly and an RBI single by DuPree made it 3-1, College of Charleston.
Hoffman singled with one out during the fifth inning, and Jasmeen Click later drew a two-out walk. Violette then entered the circle, getting Autumn Bishop to ground out.
Liberty loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, on an error, a double by Sweat and a walk to Taylor. Violette kept Liberty off the board, as Deidra See lined out and Jaclyn Amader fouled out.
Violette pitched a 1-2-3 Liberty seventh, nailing down the save.
The Lady Flames are taking on Texas State at 2 p.m. ET.
