Liberty lacrosse attacker Jordan Baerga has been named the ASUN Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week in the league’s first weekly awards of the spring 2022 season.
Baerga, a sophomore who is in her third season at Liberty, is being honored as the ASUN Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The attacker scored a career-high five goals in the Lady Flames’ season opener at Vanderbilt, last Saturday in Nashville. Baerga is Liberty’s ninth-all-time ASUN Player of the Week.
Baerga scored four of her five goals in the first half, including the final two goals of the frame (4:00 mark and 3:12 mark) to get Liberty within two of the Commodores (11-9) at intermission. Baerga’s career-best fifth goal of the day came with 10:36 left in the fourth quarter. The sophomore’s previous career high was four goals, set in the 2021 ASUN Championship semifinal round.
Baerga, who hails from Clayton, Del., also paced the Lady Flames with four ground balls and was 1-of-1 on free-position shots.
Baerga and Liberty (0-1) will host the Richmond Spiders (1-0) in their home opener, Saturday afternoon. First draw is 1 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
