
Liberty Picked 2nd In American Conference Swimming & Diving Preseason Poll

Liberty was voted second in the American Conference Swimming & Diving Preseason Poll, announced today by league officials.
The poll was voted upon by all nine American Conference swimming & diving head coaches.
Liberty joined the American Conference as an affiliate member in swimming & diving on July 1, along with James Madison and Marshall.
Defending American champion Rice was picked as the preseason favorite, receiving 59 points and five first-place votes. Liberty is second with 57 points and two first-place votes, while FIU is third with 54 points and two first-place votes. Tulane (35) and James Madison (34) were voted fourth and fifth, respectively, while East Carolina and Marshall tied for sixth with 28 points each. FAU (15) and North Texas (14) round out the poll.
Under the direction of 16th-year Head Coach Jake Shellenberger, the Lady Flames won seven straight conference championships, between the CCSA (2019-23) and Atlantic Sun (2024, 2025).
The 2026 American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
Liberty opens its regular-season schedule next Friday and Saturday, taking on American Conference competitor East Carolina at Liberty Natatorium. Among other highlights on the season, the Lady Flames have meets at conference opponents FIU and Tulane this season.
