LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty goalkeeper Ainsley Leja has been named the Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week following a 1-0-1 week with a draw against No. 24 Virginia Tech and a 1-0 shutout at Old Dominion.
Leja is the third Lady Flame to be named a CUSA Player of the Week. Ivy Garner was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week and Lauren Littleton was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 19.
The redshirt senior allowed a single goal while hosting No. 24 Virginia Tech. Leja kept Liberty in the contest, providing the offense the ability to even the game in the final minutes.
Leja had her best performance of the season on Sunday at Old Dominion. The Rockford, Mich., native faced 11 shots, the most in a win or draw for her this season. The shutout was her first of the season.
Her four saves last week increased her total to 14 this season. She currently sports a 0.94 goals-against average and a 0.737 save percentage. After missing the 2024 season due to an injury, Leja has recorded 476 minutes in six games this season.
Leja and Liberty (3-1-2) host two programs this week, hosting Queens (0-3-2) on Thursday and No. 9 Penn State (3-1-1) on Sunday. The contest against the Nittany Lions will be streamed live on ESPN+.
