Gaffney's Two Goals Gives Liberty its First Ever ASUN Win

Liberty women's soccer picked up its first ever win in the ASUN Conference and it came against fellow conference newcomer, North Alabama. Freshman Zoe Gaffney scored her first two collegiate goals to pull of the 2-0 win against the Lions at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex.

Turning Point
Gaffney was on the attack all night scoring a goal midway through the first half and sealed the game with a late goal for the Lady Flames. While Liberty scored in the first half, its backline allowed North Alabama to attempt just four shots and Melody Jayroe came up with five saves on the night.

"I would say this was our most complete game of the season. Zoe's first goal turned the tide and I think we controlled the game after that. I hope this game builds belief because we have been close in so many games and our players have had great attitudes throughout the entire season. I am happy they got a positive result from all of their hard work."
Up Next
Liberty will finish its weekend road trip on Sunday, Oct. 7, when they travel to take on Lipscomb. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.
