The Liberty volleyball team gave Duke everything it could handle Saturday morning at the Black & Gold Challenge at Reynolds Gym. The Lady Flames took the first two sets, before the Blue Devils rallied for a hard-fought 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 25-16, 29-27, 15-13) victory.

Duke bounced back, and forced Liberty to fight off a pair of set points. Liberty then closed out its 27-25 triumph with a 3-0 burst. The set-ending surge included a Hannah Anderson (Fr., OH, Rocklin, Calif.) kill and a solo block by Chelaine McCarty (Sr., MB, Houston, Ala.).

Moss then notched kills on each of the next two rallies, initiating a 4-0 match-ending surge by the Blue Devils. Amanda Robertson's kill closed her team's 15-13 victory.
Robertson finished the fifth set with three kills to lead Duke, while Scripko's four kills paced all players. Three of the Blue Devils' seven blocks in the match came during the final stanza, with Burling posting two solo rejections.
