
Liberty Athletics Sets New Record With 3.42 Cumulative GPA

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Athletics set a new record with the best cumulative GPA in school history after the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.42 cumulative GPA. This is both the highest year-end mark and highest overall cumulative in athletics department history.
All 20 of Liberty's teams earned a 3.0 or higher GPA for the spring 2026 semester, and every team is currently maintaining a 3.0 or great cumulative GPA.
This is also the third straight year all 20 teams finished with a 3.0 or higher GPA for a school year after the feat had never been achieved prior to last year. This is also the fourth semester that all 20 Liberty Athletics squads have had a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Overall, the cumulative GPA for Liberty's 540-plus student-athletes has risen in 17 of the last 19 semesters. Individually, a total of 132 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2026 semester, while 60 concluded the 2025-26 school year with an unblemished 4.0 cumulative GPA.
At the conclusion of the spring 2026 semester, 439 student-athletes are maintaining a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA (80.7 percent).

The top team cumulative GPA after the 2025-26 school year belongs to the Liberty swimming & diving team with a 3.76 GPA. The Lady Flames women's soccer team was close behind with a 3.71 cumulative GPA while posting the best GPA (3.77) of any squad for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Liberty women's tennis program, which captured its first conference title (CUSA) in program history this spring, earned a 3.66 GPA for the 2025-26 school year and a 3.65 GPA for the spring semester and is maintaining a 3.63 cumulative GPA. With women's tennis capturing its first crown, all 20 Division I Liberty athletics programs have captured at least one conference tournament title. The Liberty Flames have captured over 300 conference championship titles in the Division I era.
The Flames men's tennis program paced all of Liberty's men's athletics teams with a 3.57 cumulative GPA, followed by the men's track & field/cross country squad (3.43 cumulative GPA). The men's track & field team's success in the classroom coincided with competitive success as well, with the Flames sweeping the 2026 CUSA indoor and outdoor titles this spring.
The women's track & field squad, which posted a 3.67 GPA this spring and 3.63 GPA for the year, claimed the CUSA outdoor crown.
The Liberty golf team, which claimed the 2026 CUSA title, finished the year with a 3.15 cumulative GPA. The Flames men's basketball squad, the CUSA regular season champion for a second straight year, earned a 3.22 GPA as a team this spring.
Liberty Athletics claimed 11 total titles during the 2025-26 school year: seven CUSA Championship crowns, two CUSA regular season titles, one BIG EAST Championship title and one BIG EAST regular season crown.
