Liberty University Athletics continues to set the pace in the Big South Conference, and is making strides toward competing on a national level. The program won its third consecutive Sasser Cup following the 2009-2010 season, retaining the award given annually to the strongest overall athletics program in the Big South.
In perhaps the most visible demonstration of its commitment to athletics excellence in Liberty history, the University has embarked on an aggressive capital campaign to expand Williams Stadium to seat 19,200 for Football. Expected to be completed for the 2010 season, the stadium expansion will include the construction of a 100-foot-tall Football tower that will stretch from nine-yard-line to nine-yard-line and house a third-floor club pavilion with 788 club seats, 18 fourth-floor luxury suites, and a fifth-floor media terrace.
The continued growth of the Liberty Athletics program does come with a cost, however, and the financial help of all Liberty fans is needed to support the University’s investment. The expansion of Williams Stadium will result in enhanced benefits that can be enjoyed at all levels of membership, beginning with the 2010 Football season.
