For the fourth time this year and the sixth time in his career, Liberty’s Josh McDougal walked away from a NCAA Championship event with All-American honors as the sophomore finished ninth in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday.

McDougal (So., Perry, N.Y.) finished ninth overall and was the third best American in the field of 16 racers with a time of 14:24.17 in the 5,000 meters. Wisconsin’s Chris Solinsky won the race with a time of 14:11.71 which was over two seconds faster than Arkansas’ Josphat Boit who finished second with a time of 14:13.81.

Earlier this year, McDougal picked up his second cross country All-American honors with a fourth place finish at the NCAA Cross Country National Championship. During the winter, the sophomore added two more All-American accolades to his resume with a fourth place finish in the 5,000 and a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.

During his rookie season, McDougal earned All-American honors with a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country National Championships and a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.
