Liberty’s Josh McDougal finished second in the men’s 5,000 meters to highlight the performances of the seven Flames that competed at the 2006 NCAA East Regional Outdoor Track Championship on Friday hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Josh McDougal finished the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:05.11, while Iona’s Richard Kiplagat won the event with a time of 14:03.73. Jordan McDougal also competed in the same event and finished 18th with a time of 14:46.22.

On the women’s side of the championship, Kena Butts finished sixth in the high jump as she reached a height of 1.76 meters, while Carol Jefferson finished 27th in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 17:46.19.

Arlene Zelinskas finished fifth in her heat and 21st overall in the women’s 100 meters hurdles with a time of 14.00 and Jaime Watson finished seventh in her heat and 31st overall in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:16.03. Neither athlete qualified for the finals on Saturday.

Ravanno Ferguson rounded out Liberty’s competitors in the event as the finished sixth in his heat and 17th overall in the men’s 100 meters with a time of 10.74.
