Rebekah Jenkins and Cameron Richard have signed National Letters of Intent to enroll at Liberty next fall

The Liberty women’s tennis program has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the November early signing period. The two will enroll at Liberty for the 2010-11 academic year.

Rebekah Jenkins, a 5-8 player from Bradenton, Fla., will join her older sister Jordan at Liberty. Jenkins reached the 2007 state finals in singles as a freshman at Lakewood Ranch High School and also was named the team’s Player of the Year in 2008.

“Rebekah is the little sister of Liberty star Jordan Jenkins, but don’t be mistaken, her game is far from little,” commented Liberty head coach Chris Johnson. “She is very much her own player and is looking forward to bringing it to Liberty, where we expect her to make an immediate impact her freshman year.

“She currently holds a national ranking of 127, according to the Tennisrecruiting.net site. We are very happy and lucky to have her joining our team and look forward to watching her continue her family’s legacy here at Liberty.”

Cameron Richard, a 5-8 player from Birmingham, Ala., will also enroll at Liberty next fall. She is a three-time state champion at Vestavia Hill High School.

“With so many teams trying to land Cameron, we feel very fortunate that her heart is so open to the Lord, leading her here to Liberty,” state Johnson. “Cameron's ranking has improved rapidly over the last few years, and so has her game.

“It will be no surprise, when she starts to play at a high level in the college game. Her understanding of the court and coachability, along with a high level of athleticism and work ethic, will be the keys to her success here at Liberty.

"I could not be happier with our recruiting class for 2010 so far. With the success the Lady Flames have had up to this point on the court, this will serve to ensure that success for years to come and secure our Lady Flames as a leading contender every year in the Big South Conference and beyond."
