Today, the “Open Net” segment spotlights Elia Lake, a junior defender from Dumfries, Va.
Lake has started all 18 games for the Lady Flames this season, and recorded her first career assist on Oct. 5 against Coastal Carolina. She is part of a Liberty defense that has claimed nine shutouts this year.
Lake is a graduate of Forest Park Senior High School, where she was a two-time all-district honoree.
She transferred to Liberty after one season at Tusculum, where she helped the 14-3-3 Pioneers win the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and attain a No. 8 Division II national ranking.

What is the best advice you have ever received, and who gave it to you?
My mom gives me advice and shows me how to handle many things in a God perspective. She is an amazing woman with a big heart and she is one of the few people I would ever listen to. The Bible is a guide for my life.
