Lynchburg, Va.

Following a seven-point road victory over Charleston Southern, which pushed Liberty’s Big South winning streak to 13-straight games, head coach Danny Rocco held his weekly press conference, Tuesday afternoon, from the Donor Room of the Williams Football Operation Center.

During the 30-minute meeting, Rocco reviewed Liberty’s 20-13 win over Charleston Southern, Liberty’s second-straight road win and eighth in its last 10 away games, while also fielding questions regarding Liberty’s upcoming matchup with Presbyterian.

Below are the numerous subjects Rocco touched upon during the press conference:
• Opened with a review of the Charleston Southern game, including his happiness with a victory, how critical the coin toss proved to be, Liberty’s wise use of prime field position during the first quarter, the game’s back and forth battle, Liberty’s final drive in the fourth quarter and how the Flames stopped the Buccaneers on their first attempt to score
• Recapped “Phase Three” of the season, including the team’s 2-0 start to Big South Conference play and the team’s recent move back into both national polls
• Talked about the game statistics from the Charleston Southern matchup, plus a review of current streaks, including Liberty’s success in the month of November
• Previewed the Presbyterian game, including talks about Liberty’s motivation going into the contest after suffering a three-point setback to the Blue Hose last season
• Was asked to talk about Liberty’s game plan in the Charleston Southern contest, including the quarterback rotation throughout the game
• Gave an injury update, including the playing status of running backs B.J. Hayes and Aldreakis Allen and defensive back Larry Claiborne
• Responded to a question about the play of Brent Vinson after the freshman stepped in for an injured Larry Claiborne at Charleston Southern on Saturday
• Was asked to talk about the increased rotation of Tommy Beecher and Mike Brown at quarterback, plus Brown throwing the ball more and Beecher rushing more and how difficult that makes the Flames to defend
• Spoke about the team’s theme this week, as members of the media noticed the “31-28” signs around the Williams Football Operations Center when entering the building for today’s press conference
• Commented on the Flames final scoring drive against Charleston Southern, including key third-down rushing plays from Tommy Beecher and the touchdown pass from Mike Brown to Will Quarles
• Talked about the increased play of wide receiver Freddie Brown and what his role could be the remainder of the season
• Was asked to review his comments from the previous week about the influx of new players as return specialists, especially following the solid play of Danny Broggin as a kickoff return specialist at Charleston Southern
• Spoke about what Charleston Southern did to stop Liberty’s rushing attack after reviewing the game film from this past weekend’s contest
• Responded to a question about whether not having B.J. Hayes in the lineup at Charleston Southern hampered Liberty’s efforts to successfully run the football
• Was asked to evaluate Presbyterian and talk about what major threats the Blue Hose pose to the Flames for this weekend’s upcoming game
