Liberty freshman Seth Curry was recently named to Jeff Goodman’s All-Freshman team on FOXSports.com. Goodman, a senior college basketball writer for FOXSports.com, published his all-freshman squad based on the play of the nation’s top freshmen through the first third of the season.

Curry leads the nation’s freshmen in scoring at 20.9 ppg, helping Liberty to a 7-3 record, the Flames’ best start since the 1999-2000 season.

Below is an excerpt from Goodman’s blog discussing his all-freshman squad.

ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM

With guys like B.J. Mullens and Demar DeRozan struggling thus far, I’m going to give you my all-freshman team:

F – Jeffery Taylor, Vanderbilt – The athletic 6-foot-7 forward has been in double-figures in all but one game and is putting up 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

F – Luke Babbitt, Nevada – The highly touted Wolf Pack frosh has been as advertised, scoring 15.4 points and grabbing 7.8 boards per game.

C – Samardo Samuels, Louisville – The Jamaican big man is putting up 17 points and 6.1 boards per game.

G – Seth Curry, Liberty – He’s averaging 20.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2 assists per game for the 7-3 Flames.

G – Matt Gatens, Iowa – Averaging 10.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 53 percent from the field, 96 percent from the line and 57 percent from long distance.
