Today LibertyFlames.com debuts a new weekly volleyball feature, "Side Out with ..." First up is freshman defensive specialist/libero Jordan Barlow.
Barlow, one of several players battling for playing time at the libero position during preseason practice, is already familiar with Big South Conference volleyball. Hailing from Asheville, N.C., she was coached by former UNC Asheville assistant Frederico Santos on the Biltmore Volleyball Club.

Barlow is accustomed to winning, as she led her Asheville Christian Academy volleyball team to four consecutive state championships. She was also a standout for her high school's basketball and softball teams.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Isaiah 26:3 (You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.) This is my favorite verse because it's so comforting to know the perfect peace God will bestow on me if I just lay down my pride and trust in him. Not only will I receive His peace, but also His trust. There is nothing more comforting to know than the fact that the God of the universe trusts in me!

What type of music do you like to listen to?
Oldies, classic rock and, of course, Christian.

What is your favorite play in volleyball?
I don't think I have one for sure, but there is nothing more exciting than digging up the hardest-driven ball you have ever seen and then setting it back up and killing it down on the other side!

What is your favorite sport to play (other than volleyball)?
Basketball and softball

How did you start playing volleyball?
In elementary school, when they had an after-school program called Sports Excel! Those were the days!

The actress who would play me in a movie is …
The actress I would like to meet is Nicole Kidman, and I'm sure she could play me with all her talent.

What is your nickname and how did you pick it up?

There are oh so many—Jo, J-bar, Jordana, George and many other names over the years.

The most famous person I've met is …
I wish I could say Will Smith or Nicole Kidman, but sad to say I don't think I have actually ever met anyone super famous. Hopefully someday. I did see Cuba Gooding, Jr., far away at an Atlanta Braves game!

My favorite restaurant is …
Carraba's and Chili's.

A couple items on my "Bucket List" include …
Travel the world to places like New Zealand and Australia, go scuba diving in the Caribbean and see the Northern Lights.
